Taster · BeginnerTaster session
£70Curious about pottery, come and get your hands muddy and discover the magic of the wheel in this relaxed, beginner-friendly 2-hour session. Small classes of up to 5 people. You’ll be guided step-by-step through the basics of throwing clay, with plenty of time to play and experiment. You’ll choose your favourite pot from the session, which I’ll trim, glaze, and fire for you. Your finished piece will be ready to collect a few weeks later, a unique keepsake from your first spin at the wheel. Whether you’re looking to try something new, unwind, or just enjoy a couple of creative hours, this is a great way to dip your toe into the world of pottery. Please note: our classes are designed for makers 16+ years old. Class Breakdown (2 Hours) Preparing and wedging the clay Short demonstration on the pottery wheel Guided wheel time to create your own piece Choose your best pot to keep 10–15 minutes of clean-up at the end of class £70 per person - This includes one pot to keep, fully finished and glazed. If you would like to keep more than one, we’re happy to finish extra pots for £10 each, covering material, trimming, bisque firing, glazing in your chosen colour, and final glaze firing. A little note about the kiln: Everyone who takes part in a taster session will have a pot selected to be trimmed, glazed and fired for you. However, ceramics has a mind of its own, and not every piece makes it through the kiln exactly as intended. Cracks, warping or breakages can sometimes happen during the drying and firing process, it’s simply part of the nature of working with clay. While I’ll always take the greatest care with your pieces, I can’t guarantee that every pot will survive the journey.
